Michael Carter
Michael and his wife Yvonne have been visiting the Old Oaks as much valued guests for 13 years.
Michael's background is as a senior university lecturer and so has done his fair share of teaching.
Michael has painted all his life ' so far'.
He is an active member of several art societies across the south of England, where he gives demonstrations, lectures and workshops.
His pictures in watercolour, oil, pastel and even miniatures have become widely recognised and his animal and bird studies are in the hands of many private collections throughout England, France and Belgium,via national and international exhibitions as well as commissions.
Michael just loves to paint!

Painting Holidays at The Old Oaks
We now offer 4 day painting courses for budding artists of all abilities. Whether you're an absolute beginner, improver or advanced painter, our well known, Sussex artist - Michael Carter can offer his expert help and advice while you paint in the tranquility of the beautiful Somerset countryside.
A perfect opportunity to relax, learn & meet new friends.
The painting course fee is just £125 per person for 4 days. (This does not include pitch fees).
- Courses run from Mon to Thurs 10am to 4pm
- One to one help or do your own thing
- Outdoors as much as possible, but indoor facilities available if needed
- Choose your own media - watercolour, acrylic, pastel or oils - all media taught
- Practical and theory every day
- 2 or 3 day courses may be possible - ask the artist
